Saw this female Rufous hummer repeatedly coming into one of the feeders, not a big fan of feeder shots so I waited until she hovered for a bit checking things out before going in to feed.

Literally took me weeks of going to the same spot to finally capture images resembling a good photo. I finally ended up taking a three step ladder to get on so I could have a better angle.

I was able to get a few shots this last week or so. They seem to be getting more active with the summer monsoon picking up. Nikon D500 with Nikon 500mm pf.

Very nice Tony, I love all the foliage in the frame to set the scene. Great shots!
Rainy here today but the light was great and the hummers were pretty active.
I noticed this young male Rufous Hummingbird liked to perch up on our string lights near the feeder before coming in for a drink. Took a while but managed a few bird on the wire shots like this.

This leucistic Ruby-throated Hummongbird was coming to a feeder in Nova Scotia in August 2020. I don't think it wanted to eat the Yellow-jacket! D500, 300 F4-PF, TC-E14ll, hand-held.

I found some time to play with the hummingbirds. Thanks for looking. The first one ISO 2500 F/8 1/1000sec and the second ISO1600 F/8 1/1250sec Both using D500 500F4 1.4 TCIII

I experimented with lighting for this bird, a giant diffuser for sunlight on the left (an old white bedsheet suspended by a makeshift frame) and a reflector on the right (aluminized windshield shade from my truck). a1, 600 GM. Background is foliage in deep shade.
