Nice, well focused shot, good exposure.
Critique: Remove dust ;)
It looks like a heavy crop, maybe you could have left some more space on the left and upper side.
I don't think the bird needs to be that big in the frame.

Thanks to both of you! It’s actually not a heavy crop at all, here’s a screenshot of the original photo:

Personally, since it’s a portrait and the intent is to show the details of the head and neck(not action or behavior), I’m fine with the crop.

Yeah, I agree, I have no issue with the crop. Eye is just off center giving it a bit of room to look into the frame while still maximizing the bird; because as you say, the photo is a portrait to show the bird along with fine detail. I like it. Thanks for sharing.

Not sure he is being defensive, not my photo but I'm also a bit confused as to your point. I would think the subject is isolated due to the background. Given the even butter smooth background, you have isolation. Yes, you don't have any depth but not sure that is important in a photo such as this.

With what he was trying to do here (or at least I assume); create a close up portrait of the subject, isolated from the background, with great feather detail; I am a bit confused as to your suggestion.

I would agree that something other than front lighting might make a more dramatic photo.
