Bald Eagle vs Red Tail Hawk (the Eagle won and the Hawk flew off). A long ways away on a rainy and foggy day and I didn't expect much but still liked the action as the Eagle whipped around and went from being chased to chasing. Heavy crop and a lot of moisture to shoot through so IQ suffered accordingly.

Good capture, Dave! Looks like there may be a small meal in the Eagle's talons; was the hawk trying to steal it, or had the Eagle been the thief?

The Osprey's have returned to the Northwest and they're one of my favorites to photograph. With good late afternoon lighting and my D850 and 500mm PF I thought I'd visit a nesting site and do a test with the VR turned off. Upped the shutter speed to 3200 at f5.6. I was rather pleased with the results as I've had some photos in question with VR turned on with SS speeds 2000 and 2500. Some say it doesn't make a difference with VR on or off at a higher Shutter Speeds and I'm not to question that. However, thought I'd see if VR off resulted in soft or OOF images. No issues with tracking or focusing with the VR off.

Thanks Greg!

Here's the moment the Eagle pulled a high-G aerial maneuver and turned on the Hawk. This was a crazy deep crop so IQ is pretty bad but the Eagle doesn't appear to be carrying anything.

Nice photo Dave, those encounters are always a joy to watch especially if you have a Camera within reach.
