I posted this to the wrong thread a few days ago, so I'm reposting because if anyone is in the area of Klamath County, Oregon it would be worth a birding visit. Lots of raptors, ducks, and passerines in the Wood River Valley, roads south of Klamath Falls, Miller Island, and a short trip to Butte Valley (five miles south of the Oregon border.) There's still time.
Prairie Falcon, Rough-legged Hawk, American Kestrel, Northern Harrier

Beautiful raptor shots. So have the ducks and eagles returned after the long drought up there?

Thanks very much Kurt. Yes and yes. We've had lots of rain this year, and while not all of the refuge has returned to normal water conditions, much has. This is from a guy who visited 3/23 and 3/24 :

"I was concerned it might have been too late in the season, there were reports of little water and an iffy weather forecast. But the trip turned out to be extremely successful and there was water to be found.

We saw about fifty to a hundred Bald Eagles of different ages; most were adults. Golden Eagles numbered about a dozen. Numerous other Raptors were seen; Rough-legged Hawks, Ferruginous Hawks, Northern Harriers, Peregrine Falcons, Prairie Falcons and American Kestrels. Also spotted were hundreds of Sandhill Cranes, Tundra Swans, Greater White-Fronted Geese and numerous species of Ducks.

The most productive areas were Township Road, Stateline Road, the Willows in the Northern part of Lower Klamath and Unit Two, Tule Lake Sump 1-A and A Dike, the Straits Road between Township and Stateline and the farmlands of Butte County East of Dorris".

My experience has been similar. I also bird around the Wood River Valley north of Klamath Falls, and find that very rich as well.
