A Few Quick Updates (Feb, 25th 2023)

I've made a few minor changes to the way the forums work.

First, "conversations" are now called "Private Messages" (PMs). If you would like to send another member a private message, hover over their user name and you'll see an option for it. I think this new label is far more intuitive than the old one.

Second, I've limited the "profile posts". Pretty much no one was using them and many people were using them to post private info to other members, unaware that the info they posted was public. Basically, people were using them like PMs.

Third, I've combined the For Sale and Want To Buy forums in the marketplace. Going forward, we're using prefixes to post in those forums (i.e., you'll see a little drop down to the left of the topic box when you post an item where you can select FS - "For Sale" or WTV "Want To Buy". This should consolidate traffic and help everyone with their sales.

Now that you've taken the features away I miss them, even though I never knew they were there. I did wonder what a profile post was though.

Profile posts were sort of like a weird Facebook wall sort of thing. If someone went to your profile, they could see anything you posted to your profile posts area and reply. However, it didn't seem like anyone was really using them properly. Instead, they were using them like a private message system, exposing everything to the public.

The other thing that's gone, the Quick Topic feature, I hope to get back once we figure it out :) I liked that one too.

Nice that you stay a-top all concerns.

This may be a place to mention that we all have Messages, Reaction Score and Points. Once the points (what is that anyway) gets to 113 it is topped off. Many have 113 lock in and not counting onward.

On my end the points seem to end at 153, at least from looking at people in this thread (including Steve). Weird!

so, I see where some people list some personal things about themselves. Is there some template for that in here, or how is that done?

I am concerned like everyone else about privacy, but given the nature of the sharing in this forum letting people know what equipment I shoot with as well as my general geographic location makes sense.

Click your Account name in the upper right corner > Signature. You can create one from there - it's similar to making a post. Mine is just a few simple links as shown below. (Note, you'll only see it after you post, it won't show up as you're creating the post)
