AF speed issues...

I have a D850 and a Z6. My Z6 was essentially for travel, but I love it so much on the road that I tried my 300pf and 500pf on it... while the AF on the Z6 is accurate... it is so slow that it was almos I possible to track hemming bird in wild life. It struggles so much back and forth before finding the flying bird... I tried full aperture and lower (F8)... but still desapointed. Questions: in my mind, it is the same with the Z7? Do you believe that the news Z?s will be better with the supposed 2 expeed processors? (Or the expeed processor is nothing related .to AF🤔

The problem is that adapted lenses on the Z cameras run at about half speed (I've tested it with a variety of lenses, always the same results). It's especially troublesome at closer range - like with hummingbirds.

One trick is to keep a finger (or thumb) on the focus ring as you shoot. When the camera starts to hunt, stop focusing and turn the ring to get it back. Once yours close, engage AF again. I find that's usually MUCH faster than focusing and refocusing as it hunts.

Also, I would guess that the "s" variants will be faster. I think a big problem with the AF performance with the Z cameras isn't the AF system / software, but rather the speed at which it operates. The more I shoot them, the more convinced I am that more processor speed would cure a lot of issues.

I will try! Thanks...
