The African Jacana has extremely long toes and nails which enables it to walk over floating vegetation, especially water lilies,
Fascinating to observe and photograph,
Taken from a boat on the Chobe River in Botswana,,

WoW! Excellent shots, Gavin! @Gaduf Last time I was in Botswana and wanted such low-perspective shots. But there was no opportunity. I've got BIF of Jacana instead.
Many thanks for your kind feedback Elana,
Photographing from the boat certainly helped to get down low, and use the side of the boat for support,
Regards,
Gavin

Very nice, Gavin. These are great!
Just for interest - some locals call this the Jesus Bird because it seems to walk on water.
Hi Koos,
Happy new year to you,
Hope you have a good one!
Many thanks for looking and commenting,
I have not heard the 'walk on water' analogy before,
Regards,
Gavin
