American Mink and it's prey

Spending a few days in a Quebec National park not far from Ontario, I witnessed the capture of an Eastern Garter Snake by an American Mink and realized how powerful is this predator.

Nice capture. Judging by DOF it looks like you were right on top of this guy. They're interesting creatures to watch. I didn't realize how wide spread they are across nearly all of North America.

Thank you very much for your feedback! Actually, this guy was trying to catch the snake in a dense undergrowth; when it has succeeded, it came very close from me on a log to kill it's prey and I was obliged to retreat to be able to take the shot.
 
Great catch -- for you, the mink probably catches something a couple of times a day.
Thank you very much! i'm not worried about this beautiful animal so much this environment is rich in prey of all kinds and it is certainly more successful than me with my photographic captures!
