One of the oldest living things in the US, estimated to be over 500 years old. It has a shade area of over 17,000 square feet. Many of the limbs are being held up by telephone poles or guy wires which have been Photoshopped out. The fisheye turns a beautiful tree into something right out of a Stephen King novel!

Nice shot! I have visited there a few times and it is impossible to fully represent the tree with one photo; one has to get creative which you have done very well!

Thanks, yes it is HUGE. 17,000 sf of shade area is just enormous. I have seen a few panoramas of the whole tree, they are pretty unique too. Perhaps the next time I go I will do that. There is some really obnoxious woman who walks around telling people what to do. I am guessing she is on a power trip. She told me I could not set up a tripod and I asked what POSSIBLE negative environmental impact would a tripod have? She did not have an answer, I told her, "that's what I thought". She gave my fiancé a ration of crap for putting her purse on the ground temporarily. I had had enough at that point. I told her "hundreds of people come here daily, putting the soles of their shoes on the grounds here. How is putting your purse on the ground for a minute going to do irreparable economic damage? This is just ridiculous".

Yes, I know of her! There are signs about tripod use which I expect is for safety when large crowds are present. However, she enforces it fully at all times!
