This is an Anhinga swimming along and the photo was just so-so. I ran it through Photoshop ELEMENTS to get the outline / I then duplicated it and flipped it horizontally to get the finished image. A copy is on my living room wall.

I gotta be honest my first thought was "What the hell is an Anhinga" .. hooray for Google ..

So now I know - its not to dissimilar looking to a Heron ...

Re the post processing ,, very different for sure it just goes to show what can be achieved with a little imagination ..

Actually, an Anhinga and a Cormorant look alike with the biggest distinction being the Cormorant's hooked bill.

Very cool Howard. It's like a neon sign rendition. Really neat photo art presentation!

Shock of the new. It's one of those images I'll love one day, then I'll go off it, and I'll keep flipping one way and another. One thing though, I'll keep coming back, and the way I judge my photo's success is how long someone sticks with it. I think you’ll get a lot of viewing time with this.

Someone asked about how I did it; I can't seem to find that post or my reply. I hope who ever it was will see this post:
I used Photoshop Elements and I'm pretty sure the first step was to Select FILTER > Stylize > Glowing Edges. If you can get to this point,, you'll probably be able to proceed from there; good luck.

Thanks…it was me. It took me a bit to find the Glowing Edges…it's not under Filter menu in Photoshop but under Filter Gallery instead. Cool technique…I'll have to tinker with it on an image to see what effect the various controls have. On a quick test…it found too many edges so maybe it needs some work to get the right selection or clear out/smooth out/whatever the background or something to get the result you did. Still really cool shot though, looks your original shot had dark water in the background mostly which got only the bird outlined.

Yes, my photo had fairly dark water all around the bird. If there are too many edges - get rid of the ones you don't want before proceeding to whatever the next step is. eg. use clone stamp and get rid of anything you don't want. If you would like, I can send you my original photo for you to play with.

No need ...I’m sure I have something in LR that will work for a test.
