I spotted this eagle in way up in the trees at Conowing yesterday chewing on a dead tree. This is behavior I have not previously noticed and it went on for quite some time. What is it?? I had to research what this behavior is called and its purpose.
It is freaking.

I was there in the morning and met with Rick who stayed longer and got his usual great fishing eagle shots.

These shots were handheld - poor light - but still feaking

Nice Bob and good to see you again yesterday, though only briefly. I think it's cleaning it beak instead of chewing on the branch. I see that often.

Nice behavioral shots. Yes feaking is an important aspect of the eagles' maintenance program.
Thanks
I did not get my fishing shot (again) but I learned something new. It sure had me stumped watching the eagle.
