Any NANPA members here?

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Another member here. I joined to support their efforts of conservation, ethics in hopes that this would help preserve our resources and get more people interested in doing the same. I also enjoy the yearly contest as another way to support them financially. But then they stopped Expressions. I am not a large crowd kind of person so summits and regionals aren't my cup of tea. Thanks for the heads up Eric.

I’m a relatively new member, having recently re-upped for a second year. I’ve taken advantage of one webinar, signed up for an upcoming workshop in upstate NY, and entered some photos in their recent contest. Interestingly, they haven’t mentioned when to expect the contest results. I don’t follow very closely what’s going on within the organization and am surprised to learn of the turmoil. For the price I’ve wondered how much value the organization actually has for me and I’m now very interested in learning more and seeing what direction it will go. Had Eric not raised the issue I would have had no idea something was in the works. Now, I’ll spend some time looking into the issue. I would certainly hope that it maintains its concentration on photography for pros and enthusiasts with an emphasis on ethics and protecting the environment in which we work.

Are there any NANPA (North American Nature Photography Association) members here? I've been on the Board of NANPA for seven years. There are upcoming organizational changes and a likely merger that I don't support. I'm wondering what a NANPA type organization for nature enthusiasts and professionals might look like. Or maybe NANPA gets reconstituted with a different direction than that provided by the current leadership.

I am limited as to what I can say, but don't want to sit silently when other options should be considered.
Yes, I am a member. I've taken advantage of the insurance, the webinar's, and the virtual summit. I wanted to attend some regional events but haven't really had any close to Western Washington. It's quite expensive for a yearly membership, so far the insurance savings kind of pays for it, but if it was any more expensive that would not be the case. Also, I think the way the admin their social media feeds needs work.

I've been a member for 5 years. My primary interests in joining were focused on gear insurance and webinars and training that might help me improve my photography. As a retired wildlife biologist, I was particularly drawn to the emphasis on field ethics and the NANPA foundations efforts related to photo blinds in wildlife refuges.

I've been a member for @ 10 years, and I've done a few of their online seminars ('Camping Photography' comes to mind :) ). I don't use a lot of their benefits, but I value having a collective voice for ethical nature photography.

As a total outsider it appears from the comments that many members and ex-members are not that happy with the current Board and it’s direction. Maybe a new broom will be refreshing. If you don’t like, don’t join. Like others you need decide what you want, what you get and therefore whether you pay the membership. It sounds very similar to Birdlife Australia, pluses and minuses. At the moment for me it is 55/45 in favour so I continue my membership. Some times it is 45/55 but this has never been the case when membership is due 😎
