@DRwyoming , I think next time we need to narrow our topic to particular species in flight! We are now in page 44 nad it grows! Will I see all 44 pages? I don't know yet. I'd better look at other posts, perhaps.
What is good to post for particular species: I learn a lot about bird species in US , for example. They can be from the same family but look a bit different. It is very interesting. At least, I found it enriching. If I post one of my BIF pics in this thread it will be immediatelly forgotten ;-)

3 more - Common loon (Gt. Northern diver for the Brits - a much nicer name IMHO), Blue Jay, and a 2 or 3 year old Bald eagle in late Fall habitat. All in Nova Scotia, D500, 500-pf. TFL, Richard

Hi Elena.
I can see your point, but sometimes certain threads on here are very popular, which is a good thing as it shows it's a healthy forum, but if you are worried that your image would be lost in an already overcrowded thread, just start a new one. (y)

Thanks! This was one I was really proud of when I got it. It was in Ohio at my regular local spot. I heard 2 coming in from my right in the distance so I had time to prepare. It's pretty normal for them to come in and then reverse course to land. That behavioral knowledge really paid off.

Luck is part of the game but getting the shot involves more than luck. Nicely done. Usually when I have had opportunities with these guys the sun is usually in my face. Looks like you had the perfect lighting. Great eye shot.

I agree that there are backgrounds that are preferable to a plain blue sky, but it's not always possible. I was lucky today though, ewth this imm. Bald eagle. D500,500-pf, Avonport, Nova Scotia.I hope I haven't ecceeded my recent limit in this thread!

I think I'm going to have to set a blind out on a side hill above the wasteway to avoid these blue sky backgrounds. Plus we have a windchill warning throughout the week. I am determined to get a decent in flight shot with habitat in the background during my winter holiday. 🤞

Busy background but Eagles are rebuilding their nest so lots of potential coming in the next few months, exciting times. Getting to know my z7ii now that I sold my D850 and waiting for my Z9. Only been out a few times with it but I have to admit that it is much better than

Hi, after selling my D850, I decided to give my Z7II a shot and ditch the D5 for a bit, to try and photograph these swift swallows. I used the magnified area L mode and I really got a lot of photos. The Nikon 300 f2.8 which is fast with SLR cameras is still an amazing lens with the FTZ attached to a Z.
