Busy background but Eagles are rebuilding their nest so lots of potential coming in the next few months, exciting times. Getting to know my z7ii now that I sold my D850 and waiting for my Z9. Only been out a few times with it but I have to admit that it is much better thanView attachment 29403 I originally thought.

Thats a Beauty of a shot Darwin , which lens were you using with the Z7ii ..

I will sometimes use my lens as a spotting scope to id birds and other subjects, signs etc..
I was looking through the reeds at this mallard right at that moment a Harrier buzzed his head and he dove into the water....lol

Big huge crop! Sony A1 200-600mm

I was stalking a flock of colourful but shy parrots. They were foraging on the ground but suddenly all lifted into the trees.

This was why.

Aquila Audax, Australia's largest bird of prey, with a wingspan up to 2.3m. AKA Wedge-tailed Eagle.

I am still kicking myself for clipping the wing but he appeared out of nowhere just cresting the tree-tops where I was shooting another Osprey; I just recomposed and grabbed 5 shots, this one is the best.
I think he was as surprised to see me there as I was to see him come right over the canopy.

Very bummed about this series of shots. I was out walking Elmer by the river, A group of Teal flew up and this Goshawk did some dramatic aerial maneuvers but didn't snag one. He then flew past us directly into the setting sunlight.
Unfortunately I hadn't checked and EC was set at +1 otherwise there would be some beautiful shots to choose from. I managed to bring this one down a bit.

Ah, the ones that get away.

Happens to me too. Hard to get into a check settings habit as I turn grey.
