Blue Hour Lighthouses

When it comes to photographing my favorite subject -lighthouses- my favorite way to do so is on cloudless mornings so I can get the sun rising and catch it directly behind the lantern room of the lighthouse. However, I've been coming to find that I like my "secondary" blue hour shots almost as much. By secondary I mean that in each instance below, my main goal was to get the sun behind the lantern room, but I found out after a few outings that I actually like the colors more before the sun actually breaks the horizon. For example, whenever I'm at location 1 on a cloudless morning the sky is always a monochromatic deep orange once the sun breaks the horizon. The shot still turns out, but I like the variety in the colors more in the photo below. So I figured I'd share a couple of my favorite "secondary" blue hour shots I've taken over the past couple years.

I agree the contrast of the warm sky and cool tones in water/foreground is very pleasing. I like lighthouses too but I don't photograph them because I live in the desert!
