Beautiful shots Ralph (y)
Thanks Ira. They were all over the juniper along with a bunch of warblers. Unfortunately, a group of people who were bird watching walked over to where I was shooting and scared them off. But it was fun while it lasted.

Nice shots, Ralph; really like the bird nestled in the greenery! And were they eating those berries or carrying them off to make gin? :)

Thanks Steven. They were actually eating them😜Actually in the second photo, he was positioning it to be swallowed. In the next shot which I didn’t post he swallowed it.

Nice pics. I love the sharp detail of your shots. Mine are really strong insect eaters. I haven't seen them go for berries yet. We have only Toyon and Pistache around the house though. You would think western blues would be the more vegan than carnivore to be more in tune with California culture! ( no offense to any vegans intended, no hate mail please). If juniper, likely they just like their Gin.

Thanks Kurt . Yes , they are usually carnivores but at this time of the year the warblers and the bluebirds start feasting on these berries. I guess it’s a good source of energy.
