Bonneville Dam spillway

There is only one spillway at Bonneville Dam; it is on the Oregon side of the river. Each side has its own powerhouse and its own fish ladders. Not long before Columbus discovered the New World, there was a large landslide from the Washington side of the river, this landslide (referred by some as the Bridge of the Gods Landslide) completely dammed up the Columbia River and created a huge lake as a result. Eventually the river broke through. Bonneville Dam is built on the debris of this landslide.

For the history, search You Tube for "The Bridge of the Gods Landslide" and watch the presentation by a professor from I believe Central Washington University....his presentation is very enlightening and well done. My attached image was taken with my cell phone, the REAL images and video were taken with a D850 and are way too large to post here.

I think cell phone photography is as valid as those taken with a DSLR, the cameras on today's cell phones can produce some awesome images.
