They are and this is the closest I‘ve gotten to not blowing out the white on the head. I may try to work on this one a little and repost.Beautiful Ralph. The heads colors on these guys are amazing.
This guy came swimming along about 8am and he turned just right into the light.Beautiful. I've never come close to seeing one in good light.
ThanksGreat composition!
Thank s Daniel.Beautiful.
Thanks DanTheir heads are pretty when you catch them in the right light like this. Well done.
Thanks Bob.Nice shooting Ralph. Getting the exposure right has been a challenge for me. I always seem to find them in fast moving water with changing reflections. The second image is my favorite of the two.
Thanks WoodyThe first photo is a beaut, congratulations.
Thanks JohnBeautiful bird...for me, the second shot does it. Nicely done.
Thanks Steven. They are not easy to get close to. I was hiding along the shoreline waiting for kingfishers and he came swimming by very close. He never saw me. I tried to get shots when the sun hit him just right to show those colors. One of the toughest things has to do with exposure of the white areas. There is the tendency for the whites to get blown out.Beautiful. Had no idea they had those colours. Enlarged a shot on the back of my camera and used that to ID them last weekend; not that any came close enough to get a good shot (or a chance at catching that colour). Nice catch, Ralph!
Thanks VaughNice shots Ralph. These have been tough ones for me to get the exposure just right as well.
Well done.
Thanks John. Especially with these guys. What an beautiful little bird, nicely captured. Side lighting like this plays havoc with highlights.
