Overall, it's a cool shot. If I was going to do anything, I might try adding a bit of contrast, maybe a very slight vignette, and I'd probably try to remove that little bit of grass poking his beak.

I'd considered the grass blade, but was concerned I'd lose the feather pattern during the PS clone process... which is the only tool I know.

You clould try 'content aware fill' it might work here.
It would be a tricky cone, no doubt. I think it's do-able, but it would take some time.
