There is a northern water snake catching some sunshine on this pile of driftwood. Can you spot it? Trust me, it was a lot harder to spot in person. My wife is amazing at spotting snakes. It took me about 4 minutes to spot it. The second photo is a hint as to where it is. Nature's camouflage is amazing. I've been a nature photographer for over 30 years and really serious about it for the past 5 years. Every time I go out and look around me, I am more in awe.

Took me maybe 10-15 seconds, and I didn't look at the second photo till I found him/her. Cute little bugger, and you're right about nature's camouflage. Well done!

I say him, glad I was not hiking there. I might have stepped on him/her. BTW it took me around 15-20 seconds, know that I was looking for a snake.

Their ability to hide in plain sight is amazing. These are not venomous and are quite shy and non-aggressive.
