This was the fourth salmon, this bald eagle caught that morning. The previous three, it just seemed to feed on the eyes only. The fourth one which was probably 6-7 kg ( I would have been happy to catch it on a fishing rod), he proceeded to consume it. Maybe eagles have discriminating taste?

A triumphant call after dragging the heavy fish on shore!

Nice sequence. They do tend to be picky when their bellies are full and prefer fresher salmon over the half dead spawned out ones. Though if there's another bird around they'll fight over the worst scraps seemingly as a matter of principle. In springtime they'll eat anything that's not trying to eat them.

Thank you!
