Nice catch.

I've been waiting for an opening in the clouds in order to get the rig out and get this one. But no clear skies as of yet.

I hear you

I was lucky last night. The clouds gave me just enough time. The moon was very low. This was my third attempt. The first time it was not cloudy but I could not see it even though I was looking to the right location.

In the next couple nights there will be still opportunities before morning light. After that the moon will make it more challenging.

Thanks for stopping by

New member -- did you happen to share the Z9 exif for this shot? I also have the Z9 .
10 seconds and wide open of the F/4 24-120 mm Z at 120 mm.

It was single shot, no stacking, white, darks or astro processing.

I think it was 5 times as brighter as it is now. It was at magnitude 8. Now it is at 10.3

Unless you have ideal condition where you at, it is very difficult comet to see.

Now early in the evening there is no moon still a chance

Thanks for the quick response, and the head-up about Starview on Z9. In my area clear skies have been hard to find, but we will have clear skies for Sat-Sun. Worth a try anyway.

You still have a chance if you have fast glass

I just photographed it with Nikon 50mm F/1.2s lots of haze in the sky then interrupted by clouds after I took few shots.

The shot you have here is better than what most are getting. I'll try it with what I have this weekend if it stays clear: z 14-24/ 2.8 S, z 70-200/2.8 S. Didn't buy the 50mm/1.2 yet.

I do have an F-mount 50mm/1.8 but not the FTZ2 . Not clear to me if a 1.8 would be that much better than a 2.8 in this situation.

Thank you

It does not have to be F/1.2. When the comet was at magnitude 8, I used the 24-120 mm F/4

It is just the more light is the better.

Also the light pollution I am sure you know will make seeing the comet more challenging.
