Here's my first post! I signed up because I appreciate the tone of the forum and the demonstrated wisdom of many members, and because Steve's videos have been a muse for me the last 6 months. I've owned a DSLR since 2008 or so (D40!), but only got serious about photography now in 2021. I've spent a lot of money at B&H and Nikon 😂

These are some photos I liked from a trip earlier this year to Conowingo Dam.

I don't have EXIF data in front of me, but everything was shot with Nikon D500 + 200-500mm f/5.6 (probably wide open).

I'm personally most pleased with #1, it's in my top 5 bird photos so far for clarity/composition/feel.

Anyway, I'm super interested in your feedback, most especially in composition and processing -- but anything goes! Thanks in advance, all.

#1: GBH at rocky river bank. I sat on a rock (ow) and watched her for at least 45 minutes, but she wasn't hunting. I was hoping for a take-off, but had to go to work!
#2: Same GBH, fooling me into thinking she was going to take off... Her wingspan was probably 6' BTW. What a dinosaur.
#3: Vultures are permanent residents at the Dam. These were all lined up on a fence and observing the goings on.
#4: Mostly shared for fun. The vultures love to roost on vehicles with roof racks, and it's sort of humorous until you realize they start destroying any car they land on... tearing off windshield wipers and rubber seals, scratching the heck out of the paint... I guess it must be fun!

I especially like the first one, that vehicle must have been there for a while for all the black vultures find it handy as a perch.

Not as long as you might think! They are quite used to the vehicles. Usually one gets the idea first, then all his buddies show up within a few minutes.
