Several summers ago, this hawk landed on our deck and proceeded to pick and eat blossoms from a potted Impatiens plant. Has anybody ever heard of hawks eating plants?

That's an immature bird. Could be starving, they'll eat just about anything when they're hungry enough.

It or one like it periodically sits near our bird feeder hoping to grab a sparrow.
