Custom Setting Menu - D850 Fn1 button

Good evening all, has any D850 users noticed that when you try to reassign the Fn1 button on press and if the press and scroll has a setting identified as being selected, specifically image area, then the press selection will only show the image area selection?
I cured the problem by assigning NONE in the press and scroll selection and all's well. I also went back in and selected "shutter speed and aperture lock" and this dose not effect the press only selection.

Thoughts/experiences?

p.s. I called the tech guys at the shop I got the D850 from and over the phone they also experienced the same issue on an out of the box D850

I've noticed similar things but always assumed that single button press of Fn1 and press and spin functionality were mutually exclusive. IOW, if you'd assigned a press and spin function to Fn1 it wouldn't also allow you to also assign a simple press function. It's interesting that you appear to have found a work around to that.

I always assumed it was intentional on Nikon's part to allow one or the other function to be assigned but not both at the same time as it's a bit confusing if you have a press and scroll function like Image Area assigned but when you first press the button and before you scroll the dial the camera actually does some other function.

Thank you DRwyoming, yeah that was my understanding as well but apparently, no. The tech in the shop was flabbergasted as well. He had never seen it before and as I was ending the call unhappy I had a thought, select NONE on the press and scroll and it worked. Odd indeed
