Thank you. I think it’s definitely worth it especially if you can go on a weekday. Weekends get really crowded. I’m told the eagle population there is lower than usual but I’ve never seen so much activity in one place.
Any issues with vultures tearing up cars?

That's a very nice set of photos, Paul. I especially like the first one. Were these taken recently? I want to visit the place in the future, and want to optimize my opportunities!

YUP. They like the rubber gasketing and wiper blades. But it’s not really a problem. Just have to keep an eye on the cars in the lot.

I'd never heard of such until I visited Everglades National Park several years ago.

What’s the action like in the winter? I’d love to make the trip.

Beautiful photos
Thanks. There are eagles at the dam year round but winter is the time to go because substantial numbers of eagles migrate to the dam that time of year. I first went there in August just to check the place out and saw very few eagles, although I did get some shots, then returned in December and it was much busier. Although I’ve read from many on the local website that eagle populations are down this year. I, however, have never seen so many in one place at one time and it was great.

Yup, Conowingo Dam has similar signs. The number of vultures in the area is very impressive.

In response to Whiskeyman, the photos were taken December 6-8, 2021. Best time to go is winter - December through February - that’s the migration period. Although, as I mentioned in response to another comment, the local website “ Conowingo Dam Eagles” reports that eagle populations are down this year. But despite those reports, I’ve never seen so many eagles in one place and at one time in my life. It was great. If possible go on a weekday because the weekends get very crowded.

Historically, mid-November to mid-December was the best time to go. Extremely crowded then. However, over the past 3-4 years things have changed. I took my profile shot there in April 2019 after a very slow winter 2018-2019. It's best to follow the Conowingo Facebook pages for up-to-date info.
