Had my Platypod set up with ball head and a slab of insulation (as a bit of a platform for the muck) but when I got to my favourite frog spotting location the water level was up so the water's edge was into the shoreline growth so without much 'beach' at all, and few frogs cooperating to face shore, I had to wade a bit and handhold the camera above the water (once I was holding the camera so the bottom was a couple cms below the water line, as marked by a ring of duckweed; least I know the battery door seal seems to work ). One of the Bullfrogs, can't remember if it was this one, gave a good 'Bbbrrraaahhhk' as I was down close and it felt a bit like someone had bounced a bass drum off my head :D Given the state of too many amphibian populations these days it was great to see a good number of Bullfrogs (and Leopard frogs, none of which would let me get anywhere near them for a shot with the 105).

so, Z9 can dive? 😲 But water was still below the buttons?
Nice shot! I think, I even see you in the frog's eye (to the left) ;-)
Thanks, Elana! No the water did not reach the row of buttons under the LCD but was certainly over the lower seam of the battery door. And not for very long was it 'under' water. So no, I don't recommend diving with the Z9 :)

Great focus on the eye with shallow DOF! Amphibian eyes amaze me with their intricacies.
Thanks. And yes, remarkable peepers on frogs, indeed. One bit of trivia I recall is their night vision is superior to all other animals and they can detect colour in light levels at which a human would not be able to see anything at all. Also something about the way they focus is very different, but those details are lost to my aging brain cells :)
