I think the pose of the bird is good and I like the perch!

My only comment for improvement is next time you might try positioning yourself so the background is more solid vegetation, without the blue sky showing through.

Sometimes it’s as easy as shifting your position up/down/left/right a couple feet. I understand it might not be possible in that location.

Thanks! My only background available was that background tree. With the shape of that tree’s leaves, it was impossible to get solid vegetation behind the bird here.

I love the curves of the branch and the upper leaf. I agree that the light blue of the sky in the background is a little bit distracting, but not much you can do about that in this situation. Also nice details in the feathers including a bit of iridescence.
