I've heard Tom Mangelson and a couple of other experienced outdoor photographers advocating handwarmers... and cf this thread

I've been using the "Aglove" brand "Polar Sport" gloves. They're only $20 and they are fairly warm down to around 32ºF. They're not as warm as mittens, or leather gloves, but they allow more dexterity and the fact that they allow you to interact with touchscreens is a BIG bonus! They also have rubber dots/studs on the palm which gives me a nice secure grip on my camera and lenses. I do wish they were warmer (I end up putting my hands in my jacket pockets a lot) when there's a wind chill factor to be considered, but they are my primary winter photography glove. Here's the link: https://www.agloves.com/polar-sport/
I got a pair and was surprised with the tactile sense and I can operate the camera essentially the same as using the finger tip flip back style and my finger tips stay warm. and my wife who has raynods liked the look and feel and bought some. She will probably use them inside of mittens with hand warmers if really cold but he fingers get cold even at 50 degrees f.

This is what the heat company system looks like with liners. Various liners available if you dont get the all in one system, and you could just order the mitt part and put a different liner in. It‘s better than skin exposed. Has place for hand warmers. Nothings perfect other than booking a flight to Florida instead. I do like the liner so far, different ones to pick from. I did find the liners I got work very well with buttons and screens which I cant say for all gloves of that sort. I did get the more expensive ones. A suggestion is to measure your hand and go with recommended sizing. I had tried on other types locally and ran a size larger with this company. I was afraid they would be to big but they fit perfect.

Just a word of caution. Liners wear out much quicker than glove shells. If anyone is tempted by something like the heat company gloves, do buy separate rather than their combined ones. There's a world of difference in the life of the 2 parts and you'll be replacing the whole lot if you ruin the liners on the combined ones.

Good to point out. I agree.

Not especially related to gloves but clothing or camouflage i buy everything from my local hunting and fishing store. They have everything warm, waterproof and discreet including pretty cool neoprene gloves with an openable index fingertip for the 'trigger'

Looks similar to my wifes set up ... her mittens are ski mittens with pocket for hand warmers and the zip open end to expose her fingers in her Aglove Polar Sports
