Got my Z9 back. Oh, not so fast! ...

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

It remains 'black smoke, nope'. Checked in last week and the Z9 is waiting for parts -- three to be exact; two of which are on hand, one which is on the way from Japan (and thus the wait). Also confirmed that from the very beginning (first time the camera was sent to Nikon) that they were not aware of the automatic switch to liveview when the LCD is pulled from the camera (in the right modes :) ), thus simply couldn't understand what I was telling them was wrong. (Like telling them my knee hurt when they didn't know I had knees). Once they knew that the auto thingy was a feature (and hey as the Nikon guy told me there are hundreds of such little things that they can't know about until encountered -- I'd said I only knew about it because Steve pointed it out...) the problem was traced to switching er something and linked to a 'board' (to be replaced) that wasn't receiving (properly) the signal to act....

So, hopefully where ever the part is coming from is not the same production facility making the 800 pf, 400 2.8 and 600 tc :) I'm basically remaining chill about it as 1) there's nothing I can do about it; 2) I've got the D6 to shoot with. On that latter point however, the shortest f mount lens I have is an 85 (having replaced most everything short with Z lenses) so I'm unable to much else but wildlife photography using my 180-400 tc and 500 pf. Which is a bit annoying.

Thanks for asking.
