Great White Shark - Gansbaai, South Africa. The decline has been immense around SA coasts - not many left.

Thank you Woody, EFT, Rich and Jadewolf. A friend of mine did her PhD on the white shark - and around 10 years ago, her research proved (via DNA sample) that something like 89% of White sharks shares the same DNA sequences - which is not sustainable. add poaching, the rest is history.

White Sharks seen in Gansbaai in the past 3 - 4 years can be counted on one hand. I was extremely lucky to have seen sharks a number of times in the past.
This photo was taken from a shark diving boat owned by another friend - Mike Rutzen - The Shark man - famous for shark movies /documentaries, and shark research. I was involved with documenting some of the research for publication purposes.

Great shot! I'd love to see one in the wild.

I think the missing ones from SA are on the East Coast of the US, particularly Cape Cod. There has been a huge increase in their presence over the last 4-5 years because of the bounce back of seals in the area.
