My dried bug restoration skills are improving! After I carefully removed the clear wrap package around the bug all of its legs and antennae were tucked under the body.
So:
So:
- Two 20-second sonic baths in the sonic cleaner to remove dust and dirt.
- A 6-hour snooze in the relaxing chamber to relax the appendages. A modified snack container that had a bottom section with a paper towel soaked in a 50/50 mix of water and rubbing alcohol, and a modified top chamber drilled with small holes for the bug. The top is a seal clip-on.
-
- After 6 hours, Carefully pinned onto a piece of foam with the legs and antenna being held on either side in the correct position until they re-set (dried). Also carefully crazy glued a bent insect pin to the bottom of the abdomen.
- 50 image stack using Focus Shift Shooting with my Nikon Z6II and Z105mm macro.
- Zerene stacker
- Adobe Photoshop touch-ups of a few pieces of dust and dog hair!
- Start to finish: 9 hours!
