I saw this opportunity this morning in my neighbor’s tree. Mid morning light on a bright day wasn’t great, but I was able to put into practice some of the tidbits from Steve’s BIF ebook. Still a work in progress. Nikon D500 with Nikon 500mm PF.

Very tasty! Especially the second last one. You could add more sky at the top if you wanted 😉
Thanks! Unfortunately the hawk was at the top of the frame and that’s all there is. I had about 4 others that had various parts clipped. Like I said…. still a work in progress.

Thank you Lisa! Yes….it definitely is still practice, or as my lovely wife likes to say…even a broken clock is right twice a day!

Steve has a nice You Tube video here
on fixing a tight crop/ shot. I thought of it when I saw your third one. Very enjoyable set, thanks.

You nailed it! Well done.
And yes, a bit of editing would turn those from great to awesomest :)
Clone out some branches, open up some shadows a bit and expand that sky on tight crops and Bob’s your uncle. They are worth the time!
