I was shooting my niece's wedding this past weekend with my newish to me A1. SD card in each slot. I had it set up to record to both 128gb cards simultaneously, but at some point noticed that it wasn't doing it. Checked the menu and it was still set up to do so. I didn't want to lose any photos so I removed the card that was soon to be full and used only the remaining card until I could get back to my bag and swap both out. I shot for about 5 minutes with no problem, but as soon as I hit the playback button, it said that the card cannot be read and to re-insert it. It then popped up a message asking to attempt recovery and I selected yes. That did not work and the error has not gone away.

Now that card cannot be read in camera, or on my pc with a usb 3.2 reader like normal. It can only be recognized in my pc using a 2.0 reader. Nothing shows up but it does recognize it as a 119gb card. When inserting the card into the camera and connecting the camera to the computer, it shows a license folder and iirc "info" folder, but shows the card as 62 MB, not even GB, let alone 128GB or 119GB. Also takes 2 days to scan when in the 2.0 reader, using file recovery software (r-photo, dmde, and just started r-studio). When plugging the camera into the computer and scanning it, it only takes a second or two because it only sees the 62MG partition initially. I've tried all the normal things you find on the web about Sony's "card not recognized" error but nothing works. Any ideas before I send it off to someone? And does anyone have any recommendations on recovery companies that I could send the card to?

I've had good results with Pirform Recuva (free), The Sandisc Recovery Pro De Luxe that you get a licence for with many Sandisc cards, and Ashampoo Photo Recovey. Of the 3, Recuva was the 'worst' but if it works it is free, The rescue Pro De Lux and Ashampoo were evens, one is faster, the other has a better interface and no, I can't now remember which is which.

Stellar Repair will do the trick. It’s not free, but is a good tool.
