As a little additional info. The first was taken at midnight on 23rd August. This is the first day that the sun drops below the horizon in Svalbard, although it still stays light.
I waited about 45 minutes and the sun rose directly to my right, approx 90 degrees to the first picture. Sun rise and sunset within 45minutes!

Last I was in the high arctic (NWT) I enjoyed reading in my tent at 11:30 p.m. Gotta love endless sun; of course on the other end of the calendar there's no light. Nice shot.
