Hi All,
I am just getting started with digital photography after many years away from Photography all together. Was out and caught

these shots the other day. I'd really enjoy some critiques. Anything about these shots would be greatly appreciated.

Very nice. Great dramatic lighting with the dark background and lit flower.

You might try a crop that places the flower a bit further up and to the left so it's a bit less centered and so that the eye is pulled from the bright flower towards that somewhat bright leaf in the background. Also that dark stem running up near the middle doesn't help the image, it could possibly be removed in post processing but it would take careful effort make it look natural. Sometimes there's not much we can do about the scene we're given but lookin for subjects or perspectives that minimize visual distractions like that can help.

But all in all both nice images and good job seeing and capturing that dramatic lighting.

Thanks very much. I should have thought about the placement of the flower in the frame. So the crop advise was great. The irony is i usually always have placement in mind. Thanks for taking the time to help me ..
