How many camera bodies?

I was curious on average how many camera bodies do most serious photographers own? I owned only one up until about 12 years ago and have had two ever since. I almost always take two out with me and enjoy doing so. I have considered getting a third mainly because neither of mine do not focus bracketing but keep talking myself out of it lol. I'm sure there are some that own several bodies but I'm curious what the norm is, especially among members on here.

Own or actually use? I have my gripped D500 that is my main body, plus a gripped D300 that sadly mostly just stays in the fire safe, and an IR-converted D200 that sees occasional use. And if you want to count it, I still have my F3HP/MD4, also in the safe, but that has nostalgic reasons for staying (saved a long time when I was 18 for my first pro-level SLR). I don't think I've ever carried two bodies with me in the field, but I shoot for my own personal pleasure and to share with friends and family. Yes, there have been trips that I got lucky with just the one, in retrospect I would pack a second for backup if I was doing them again.

I have six - F100 for my film nostalgia, an IR converted D600, a D750 because it has a built-in flash for family parties, a D850 because it is a great camera and I use a couple of old D lenses, a Z6 my first Z and backup and the Z9 as my primary. The F mount stuff is of such low value now, it is not worth the time and effort to sell. We are all photographer groups of one.

Three that see regular use (Z9, Z7ii, Z7), a Fuji X-Pro2, an IR converted Fuji X-E2, and a LUMIX LX100 that I use if I am doing underwater photography (have an underwater enclosure) or only want to carry a small point and shoot.

I currently have 2 DSLR bodies and 1 Sony Bridge camera (RX10iv). On the DSLR Front, a D500 and a D7200. Honestly I have not used the D7200 in about 3 or 4 years. It is just a backup camera these days.

Too many, ha! I am a bit of a hoarder and I don't like giving up gear.

The stable includes...

Z9 - primary camera
Zfc - my fun camera for just walking around or tossing in the car
Z6II - bought used as backup for the Z9 until something akin to the D850 shows up in Z
D850 - never giving this one up, even though it mostly just serves as a film digitizer these days
D200 - keeping this mostly for sentimental value now. I shot this camera for over ten years and took it all over the place. When I got better gear, I had sent it off for IR conversion, but it got lost in the mail for months. By the time it finally showed back up, I had picked up a used D800 for IR instead. Keeping this one anyway, because it means a lot to me.
D800 - IR converted
F100 - For shooting film and being serious about it
FM - For shooting film and indulging in fully manual nostalgia

Only bodies I've ever actually given up were my D70s (my first DSLR, which I gave to a friend who wanted to learn photography last year) and my D500 (which I sold to help pay for the Z9). I'll probably sell the Z6II, though, when the mythical Z8 shows up. I don't care for its control layout and I'm just using it as an emergency backup.

Edit: Almost forgot... an old Minolta film body from before I started shooting Nikon. Also kept purely for nostalgia, even though I never shoot it now.

I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may be detrimental to my marriage...
My wife of 50 years supported a D850, 500PF, Z9, Z100-400, Z70-200, Z105 and 50
Macros, a new tripod and the Z800 in the past 2 years as my retirement “gifts” Of course, she is a quilter so her sewing machines make my camera gear look reasonably priced.

Two mirrorless bodies, one film body, one pocket size point and shoot, and an iPhone. I’ll likely sell one of the mirrorless bodies soon and pick up a better one in a year or so.

Right now, I've got eleven, or at least eleven. Five film, six digital.

I would have more, but have given some away to relatives and students. Just as some of these cameras were gifts to me.

I feel that selling them would not be very financially productive compared to the satisfaction I get when giving a camera to someone who really wants one and can barely afford one. At least five of those I still have are for my children to take whenever they so ask.
