How many lenses do you have?

Godfather!

May I ask what MFT lenses do you use

Sure :)

I use the Samyang 7.5 f3.5 fisheye, Olympus 12mm f2.0, Panasonic 25mm f1.7, Olympus 45mm f1.8 and Olympus 75mm f1.8 with the Panasonic GX-7.

I use the Panasonic-Leica 8-18mm f2.8-f4 and the Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 mostly with Panasonic G9. I also have an Olympus 30mm f3.5 macro that I use with the G9 now and then as the camera has a fully articulated screen and can do bug detection (animal AF but it works on may insects as well :D) and a Lensbaby Composer - Tilt Transformer that I haven't used in ages :).

We need to make sure that our wives are not allowed to see this thread ! All it will lead to is more trouble for some of us.

A photographer dies and he gets to the Heavenly Gates.
Saint Peter: "How did you die?"
Photographer: "Heart attack!"
Saint Peter: "How did that happened? You weren't supposed to have a heart attack!"
Photographer: "I came home from work one day and my wife told me: Honey, we needed some extras cash for repairs around the house so I sold all your photo gear at the same prices you told me it cost!" :p

Between my wife and I, 20 lenses. 12 Z mount, 8 F mount; 16 Nikon/Nikkor, 1 each of Lensbaby, Meike, Irix and Tamron. Focal lengths from 14 to 500. 11 zooms, 9 primes. Most common filter size: 52mm (4). Smallest: 46mm, largest 95mm (ignoring the 14-24/2.8 Z). Two teleconverters. 25 circular filters (should have invested in a system!). Three tripods and more bags than I care to count…

How did you manage that?

Here is a picture of just the Nikon lenses:

Over the past few years I have been shedding lenses and the only one I have purchased in that time is the Sigma 150-600C. Add that to the Nikon 24-120/f4 and I have a total of two lenses ... and don't forsee any situation that would make me want or need any more :)

I have a 105mm Macro, 28-300mm and a 200-500mm lens for my D850; for a Z50 there is a 16-50mm and a 50-250mm lens plus an adapter for the three full-size lenses.
Finding I wasn't using them any more, I sold a 24-7i0mm and a 70-200mm lens. If a lens isn't used for a year or more; it isn't needed. (Obviously, I'm not a professional photographer.)

I spent years with 1 lens that was hard yet at same time inventive.
Then I bought a fix 50 to check a problem with camera. I so dislike that lens. It is fully automatically, I don't like not having control. It will replace one day.
Now have 200-500, 70-200, 24-70 & fixed 85.
I wish to add 16-35 & 2 more fixed lenses. A 500pf would be nice.
With everyone going mirrorless I could end up with a very nice collection.

TOO many. I am in the process of migrating from dSLRs to Zs. So I have 14-24 FX and Z. Ditto for the 24-70 and 70-200. Will house clean soon. On the longer side, 80-400, 180-400, 600 and 500 PF. Plus Sigma 150 macro and a canon MP-E (1-5x zoom macro). Plus a few extra lens for my wife to use. Her stuff is "separate" from mine for the most part.

DX. - 10-20; ,18-105 16-80/, 18-140 . 35 1.8
FX 16-35 f4 , 70-200 f4 ,70-300 50 1.8
Z 24-70 f4. 24-200 f4 ftz adapter
i didn’t realize i had so many .
maybe time to sell some to feed my. Z collection. Some gear. Is hard to find these days

JIM
how many of these do you routinely use. Or are some collector items, like the MF lens.

We need to make sure that our wives are not allowed to see this thread ! All it will lead to is more trouble for some of us.

All I wiil admit to is that I have two lenses that I cannot use or sell because of sticky aperture blades or fungus. I recently sold my two DX lenses in an attempt to reduce my lens inventory to just FX lenses.

Everytime I think about selling some of my FX lenses I do not use very often I think back to the memories associated with some of them.

Everyone needs a macro lens, even a short one like 50 or 60mm. They make excellent portrait lenses and landscape lenses. Maybe I will sell my standard 50mm lensand just keep my macro?
No worries there - I fixed that problem by dumping her 10 years ago (for reasons unspecified), and now am free to buy whatever I like, although I don't recommend divorce as a way to acquire more photo gear! 🥴

DIvorce can get more expensive than marriage (at least in the long run counting cost of living alone, dating if you decided do so, ...)

see if you sticky lenses can be cleaned or sell them for parts, Nature abhors a vacuum and soon the space on the shelf or in the camera back will be filled again.
