This has been an on going project for me, for the last 8 years. I have just returned from my third visit to the Sierra Morena in Spain, to try and photograph the elusive Iberian Lynx.
The previous two visits had been fruitless, however this area of Spain has plenty more to offer, so it is not too tough a mission!
When I first visited the area, this animal was viewed as the rarest wild cat in the world. The good news is has now lost this moniker! The estimated population has risen from a low of around 200 individuals, to last years census of approximately 1300, which is an amazing success story.
Having spent over 150 hours, during my 3 visits, sitting patiently in hides and tracking on foot, I have been rewarded with a 3 minute visit and an 8 minute visit, by this adult female. Worth the wait but a long time coming🙂

Yes, this was my home for 11 hours x4 days. However, on the positive side, more Lynx were seen in the lower public areas. Certainly more than I saw.

What an amazing set of pics, getting photos of truly endangered species is special.I saw a documentary on the Iberian Lynx some time ago when its numbers were critical what an amazing experience thanks for sharing:)
