No not a new species. Just angry. As they tend to do a GBH tried to bully this anhinga and run it off this fishing spot. Turns out the GBH picked the wrong fight.

1) GBH getting the heck out of there.

Nice set! #2 tells the story well!
Thanks, Karen.

Great set and nicely done

Thanks, Chris.

Nice images! I like their Interaction in the first.
Thanks for commenting. I captured several frames but unfortunately I was on the wrong side of the action.

Awesome photography, & fun to boot
Glad you enjoyed the post, Charles.

Great shots Dan, you captured the moments that tell the story.
Thanks, Louie. I should have captured more of the event but didn't bother to raise the camera when the GBH landed. I just assumed the anhinga would quietly slide into the water. Typically whatever a GBH bullies just leaves them to it.

You would think that the GBH with its danger-beak wouldn't back down. Cool set of shots!
Thanks, Woody. The GBH typically wins against anything other than an eagle. Maybe this was an inexperienced one.

Very interesting photos. I like to see birds interacting. The local rainbows sometimes get drunk on a certain kind of nectar. Once had about thirty having an all out brawl on my deck.

Thanks for commenting. Yes observing their behavior can be fascinating.

Lovely set of images Dan,
Great interaction and story,
