I would welcome a junk room for other types of photography.

I would not be in favor of adding these forums to BCG. This is a site for wildlife and nature photography, and I would hate to see that focus diluted by adding totally unrelated categories. One of the (many) wonderful things about BCG is that it's a community of professional and amateur photography enthusiasts committed to celebrating and sharing information about the natural world - I know of few other sites like it. I suspect there are places on the Internet that cater to these other interests, or perhaps you could start your own website dedicated to them.Perhaps Steve might consider adding some new categories, or just 1 new one for "Other"?
They already exist, Rich.add landscapes and macro -
It's a question of focus, and many/most folks here prefer the focus on wildlife and nature. In my mind, it's like subscribing to a publication on birds, then having the editors add a section on sports - it just loses its appeal to the birding enthusiast. I would turn your question around and ask you why adding an "other" category would be a positive thing for a community primarily interested in nature and wildlife?Could those of you against this please explain why adding an "Other" forum would negatively affect you? I don't see how one extra option on the menu that you never go to would impact you at all. What am I missing? The people that want it could go to that forum and everyone that doesn't wouldn't go to it. Otherwise this forum would be exactly the same. Help me understand your thinking.
I could argue that just about anything could be "easily ignored", nudes, architecture, pets, portraits, street, whatever. Steve choose to make this site about nature and wildlife photography. Many of the people here, me included, appreciate a web site dedicated to the type of photography we shoot and a website where we can discuss photos and other issues directly related to this genre of art.One extra forum. Not like it would be a massive site. Easy to ignore if you aren’t interested. Still don’t see the problem.
