Is this usual or a problem with my Z 5 ?

I am still new to the Z5 . but i have noticed some thing that Im not sure is normal. when I compose a photo I sometimes adjust the iso or ev . When i push the button on the top of the camera to make the adjustment the rear screen activates , and it is easy to accidentally change the settings by touching the screen. Is this normal behaviour for the camera . Have you experienced this and is there a way to stop this. Thanks for any advice you can offer ? Thanks for all the past support frorm this forum .

Don't own a Z5 but on my Z6 II if I hit the little display button on the side of the viewfinder I can select Viewfinder Only which I'd expect would stop that behavior but also extends battery life by not lighting up the rear display when you pull your eye away from the viewfinder.

I prefer to not use the touch-screen function on my Z5. For me, it seemed like I was forever accidently changing the settings when carrying the camera, or just trying to take photos. I also generally have the viewfinder-only function activated, so the eye sensor does not keep switching back and forth between the evf and the lcd. I don't know if this helps, or answers the question, but maybe it will be of some use.

Thank you all..viewfinder only mode beliminates the problem I was having. It Is Brooke easy to change settings when in rear screen mode. I’ve noticed. The sensor at times doesn’t. Operate properly . It has to be cleaned from time to time . the eye piece can move when taking it from the camera bag at times, which can make it necessary to make sure it is properly fitted . This forum is an amazing asset fo photographers. I’ve learned so much reading it on a daily basis .

The Higher end Z bodies have the small top LCD screen to display this information, so maybe Nikon thought that the rear screen should come on when adjusting settings to make up for that? You should be able to turn off touch input to make up for this.
