Landscape lenses for Nikon

While I shoot mainly birds, I have recently become interested in landscapes. So was wondering about any recommendations for reasonably priced landscape lenses for Nikon (D500 and D7200), say in the 18-55mm range or thereabouts. As it's just a hobby I'm not in a position to spend big bucks, and so was thinking of Sigma, Tamron, Tokina etc. Any experiences greatly appreciated.

I have a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 that I picked up used for about $200. It's a very sharp lens and I'm quite happy with it. No VR on mine, but Tamron does have this model with VR, or what they call VC. Lens flare can be a little more of a problem with this lens than others I've had, but I've learned to be careful to shade the lens and then there's no problem.

My lenses I use are the following Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 art, Tamron SP 24-70 f/2.8 G2 A032 and a Tamron SP 70-200mm G2 A025
They are all FX and all great lenses for landscapes IMHO.
If I had only one it would be the Tamron SP 24-70 f/2.8 G2 Exceptional VR! When I bought this lens it was in preparation for a wedding, it has proven to be a great lens on D850 or D7500 I have never used it on my D500.

I have used my Nikon 16-80 f2.8-4 on my D500 and D7200 for landscapes, particularly when hiking. It’s a very good lens, fairly lightweight, and I recommend it. I also like it as a walk around lens. The OP mentioned the 18-55 mm range. For landscapes on a DX body, I think it is quite useful to get to at least 16 mm on the wide end, the field of view equivalent of 24 mm on an FX body. For something wider on a DX body, I have used a Tokina 11-16 mm.

On my DX bodies, I used a Tokina 12-24/4 for landscapes and really liked it. I generally just use FX bodies for landscapes now, but that Tokina has great reviews to go with my solid results. The main knock was slow AF that I don't care about for landscapes.

I shoot with both D7200 and D7500. I tried the 24 mm f1.8, the 50 mm f1.8 and the 18-55 AF-P zoom lens. All 3 took nice photos but weren't wide enough. So I went for the popular Tokina 11-16 mm f2.8. I was happily surprised with the quality and sharpness, considering how "cheap" it is. I strongly recommend it. Keep in mind it weighs 550 g, so not as light as the Nikon zoom or prime (under 200 g), but it is still very light in comparison with Wildlife lenses :ROFLMAO:

The Nikon 16-80mm DX would be both wide enough for Scapes and also give you a 120mm effective reach. Don’t just shoot wide angle Scapes. Look for opportunities to zoom in on interesting patterns or details.
