I recently purchased the new CamRanger 2 to take remote pictures with the camera close to the subject. I have been really pleased with the results.

Below is an image of a Baltimore Oriole (Northern Oriole) with the by D500 with the 300mm PF lens on a tripod, using the CamRanger from my recliner while sipping bourbon! My goal is to do a setup by a Bluebird nesting box in the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge where I set up the camera about 7 feet from the box and I will be sitting comfortably up along the gravel road in my camp chair about 75 yards away.

I have been admittingly learning how to use the CamRanger but all in all, it does what is advertised. I rare occurrence in today's world! It also takes really good Macro Stacking shots and has a setup to do so. So far the macro shots of been great (I have a LOT to learn!).

With the CamRanger, you can control all of your primary camera settings: Shutter speed, Aperture, ISO, remote focus control, etc. You can see an exposure meter to make sure you are getting proper exposure.

You can even set it up to take "burst" shots which is how I got the below image. 10 shots, 1 second apiece.

I am using it on my iPad (newest version) and on my Windows 10 Desktop and both work equally well. It also works on one of my Android tablets, but I have not been able to get it to work on the Google Pixel Android phone (which is no surprise!).

The CamRanger sets up its own 2G or 5G wireless network, so it will work ANYWHERE!

I give it a solid 9/10. ( I don't give anything a 10/10 except my wife and this forum!).

Note: I have NO affiliation with CamRanger. None! I'm just thrilled to have purchased a product that actually works!!!! Steve gave me permission to post.

Nikon D500 300mm PF 1/200 sec f 5.6 ISO 800 on a tripod, on my deck while I sit sipping bourbon inside! "As Shot" with a slight crop.

Another close-up shot using the remote control of the CamRanger. This little guy is at the bottom of the food chain in my backyard so he is gone in a flash if there is any movement anywhere.
