Is anyone else having difficulty with their lens hood sticking on the Nikon 500mm PF. I’m find that often times it is very difficult to get it off the lens.
If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).
I have no issue with mine. As they say “your mileage may vary”It is sticky and a very poor designed hood considering the cost of that lens
Yes. It can be a little tricky getting on and off. Just don’t force it. Gentle touch. Is anyone else having difficulty with their lens hood sticking on the Nikon 500mm PF. I’m find that often times it is very difficult to get it off the lens.
Thanks, great idea. I’ll give it a try.Might be worth running a pencil around the mating surface on the hood a few times, the graphite acts as a lubricant. Used this successfully on quite a few lens hoods over the years
That‘s what I’ve found with mine. I don’t have too much trouble getting off, but it is difficult to get on. You have to make sure everything is lined just right , if not I can see how it can get jammed and won’t come off. I almost never take mine off because of the difficulty of getting it aligned just right when putting it on. Last time I put it on , I place a small of silicone grease on the threaded area. Hopefully that will help.Hoods can be a bit like filters, grab them too hard and they distort slightly making them difficult to turn.
It only gets jammed if you don't pay attention and get it cross threaded. Like any properly sized threaded fitting. The ones that fall off are the cheap, poorly designed ones.More like, Glad the cheap plastic gets jammed together on there and won't come off....lol
My Sony 200-600 has fallen off a couple times without me noticing. I should probably start taping it on there.
