After contemplating for a while I bought the Nikon 200-500 f/5.6 that I a using with Nikon Z6 ii. Although I haven't got much time to use it but so far I am quite happy with it and I think I'll hang on to it. Mainly for acquiring this lens, I also purchased MindShift Gear Backlight 26L backpack. At present, the backpack contains Nikon Z6 ii with Z 24-70 attached, Nikon 200-500, FTZ Adapter, Fuji XT4 with Fuji 18-135 attached, and Fuji 16mm. I like to keep my Fuji 80mm Macro and Fuji 70-300 in the Backlight too. Hence, I am looking for a lens bag or pouch for the long lens with the adapter and the lens hood (reversely) attached. The length of the lens with the adapter attached is about 15 inches and the diameter of the hood is about 5.5 inches. I have checked on Amazon Canada but couldn't any that could fit the lens and the adapter together. I would very much appreciate any suggestion in this regard. Thanks!

Not sure what to recommend for a bag, but would it make any sense simply to mount the 200-500 on your Z6, and hang it across your shoulder with a strap? This is what I do with my D850 and 200-500, using a Peak Design wide strap - the rest I carry in my backpack.

I have used a Lowepro Toploader 75 for the 200-500 (including hood). The Tooloader 75 is obsolete now and has been replaced by the Protactic TLZ 75. The 200-500 is a around 10.5” long and the case can accommodate around 11.5”. There might be enough give in the top to accommodate the FTZ otherwise just put in the outside pocket where I normally keep the Induro GHBA gimbal.

Thank you so much.

Think tank makes a holster which accomodates lens mounted to body.
Thank you for the suggestion. Think Tank Digital Holster 150 should serve my purpose. I just purchased one online from our local camera store; I should get it in 4-5 days. I'll post my response here once I get the holster.

I used this Apecase which holds a D7500 + 200-500 attached with the hood reversed. I couldn't say if there's enough room for an FTZ attached though :-(

you'd need to check the interior dimensions

About this item
  • Interior dimensions are 14.5 x 6 x 5 Inches

I have the same Ape Case. At the time I purchased it, it was definitely the best fit for the 200-500, and I checked, adding the FTZ adapter is no problem. The bad news is that it doesn't seem to be available currently. Par for the course in this business, it seems :-(.

I have a Sigma 150-600 C and use this JJC on a Belt. The Sigma is 27cm long and there's a bit of space to spare, so it may allow for your adapter. I am already innured to looking like a bit of a gadget twat, so this and my ordinary camera bag allow me to carry the D7500 body plus 3 other lenses. I believe the Nikon 200-500 weighs about the same as the Sigma, and I don't find that too bulky to carry. Oh, and it's mostly but not entirely waterproof - good enough to provide protection in a brief rain shower.

I got the Lowepro Lens Case 13x32cm (Black). It's $38.97 at B&H. It holds my Nikkor 200-500mm lens easily. There might be just enough vertical room if you attached a lens adapter.

I have an "Ape Case" on my D500 and 200-500mm and its was fairly cheap and seem durable.
It looks like it fits A Z camera FTZ and 200-500mm lens.

Thank you Roy! I did try for the Ape Case but it was out of stock. I ended up getting the ThinkTank Digital Holster 150. There 200-500 with FTZ attached fits very well in it but it's very tight fit if I attach the Z6ii. So, for now, I'm just keeping the lens in the holster.

I do love the 200-500mm lens, I have a 200-400mm which is slightly sharper but its much heavier.
