Lightroom Export and Sharpness

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

When exporting photos from Lightroom to post for sites such as this, the original image in full resolution is tack sharp and the posted image is rather not. What parameters do you use?

I sharpen the image as desired during processing then in the LR export dialog I make sure I have the following set:

- Image size no larger than 1200x800 pixels
- Color space set to sRGB
- Sharpen for Screen selected

For the best result it is necessary to use the last mode of sharpening, which is applied at export, i.e., Sharpen for Screen. If an image is exported in too small of a size, i.e., pixels across, for the space in which it will be shown that can result in a blurry image. It's also important to have a very sharp image to begin with as exporting will not improve image IQ but you have said your image is tack sharp so that must not be the problem.

Mike, it happens to me as well, especially when using images that aren’t cropped.

Sharpen for Screen selected…That is new for me, thank you 🙏

That was very useful. However I have an issue , I am not able to import the preset into the lightroom -- the file does not show up in the LR even though I have saved the preset to the desktop. Wondering if it is some setting I have ... Any help on this ? Thank you
Right click on any image in the Library panel, click on Export towards the bottom and click Export at the top of the next panel. This is the panel that you will see (image below). Click on the Add button and Navigate to your download on the Desktop and add it. After that set it up as you see fit on the right hand side as to where the file gets saved after export.

You can only see EXIF info for this image if you are logged in.

After that just right click on the file you want to share, click Export and click BCG Export. After you have done this a couple times you will understand how this works....Good Luck!!

PS...after reviewing the original link there is a 4min. Video that Steve has on how to install it.
