I've been going to this roost for a year or two now and the last trip there was a total of 6 there at one time. 3 was all I could manage to get into one frame due to the dense tangle of limbs and how spread out they were.

On the rare occasions I photograph a long eared owl, there are always a mess of branches between my camera and the owl. To find six owls at one roost is pretty exceptional to me. And to have a clear shot is liking finding a unicorn.

I agree. It must have been an irruption because its usually only 1 or 2 at most. Definitely a rats nest of branches.
