Megadap211 Sony E to Nikon Z adapter

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Can you provide a source for 1) as I haven't heard that.
Where is a source that says it will be a Tamron?

The two Nikon lenses that are "rebadged" Tamrons are exactly the same as the Tamrons (17-28 f2.8 and 28-75 f2.8).
There is no Tamron 200-600 and it is highly unlikely that they will develop a new lens for Nikon.
Tamron has a mirrorless 150-500 though, if the roadmap would be 150-500 the Tamron would be likely. But a 200-600 will most certainly be a Nikon design.

I bought the adapter and thought I’d check in with the forum before buying a Sony 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 lens for my Z9. I am tired of waiting for Nikon and kind of soured on their 200-600 f/6.3 announcement when I heard it will not be an S lens, but probably a Tamron. Any one using the Megadap 2 and Sony glass on a Z9?
I'm hoping the Nikon 200-600mm isn't a Tamron and isn't variable aperture.
My hopes are that it's similar to the great value 200-500 AFS lens.
I've heard of people over on AP Studios using the adapted Sony lens on a Z9.
Other than on a Z9 the AF may be a little too slow ...🦘

Got the Sony 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 on Friday. Mounted it on the Z9 with the Megadap211 and tried it out in the backyard. So far, very good. I compared the AF speed to the Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 and it is subjectively faster. It is locking on small birds on my backyard feeder with no issues. The weather here in SE Texas the last couple of weeks has been miserable for birding, but should improve this week. Hopefully, I'll get out to one of my favorite birding sites and put it through it's paces. The only issue I have run into, is that you need a Sony E mount camera to update the firmware on 200-600. I'll have to find a local friend who can give me a hand with that. Might be a bit of a challenge as almost all my friends are Canon, Fuji, Leica, or Nikon shooters.

With a few exceptions, firmware for lenses is updated mainly to accommodate new camera models. If the lens/adapter/camera system works now, the only likely future issue would be if the Nikon camera (Z9) firmware were changed in such a way that the adapter stops working properly. There actually has been a Magadap adapter firmware update since I bought the thing and I have ignored it based on the theory that "if it ain't broke don't fix it."
