My In-Car Window Support Strategy

Ha! I just ran out to the garage to make sure I hadn't used my extra insulation. There it was hanging under the wall shelf bracket. I'm in business with an in-car window camera support! FREE! First camera accessory not over-priced! :ROFLMAO: Steve, my 12th time to say this: You're a genius! Wonderful tip, thanks! ⭐x 5

That's a great idea and I've had good success with it --thanks young man. For shooting out the passenger side window I made a short monopod from a 1 1/4" dowel outfitted with an inexpensive tilt head. The base sit on the console and the dowel was cut to length to put the viewfinder at eye level when I'm in the diver's seat. It's not the most steady way to hold a camera, but it beats hand holding in an awkward position.

I've been using a "molar" shaped bean bag straddling the window, but this looks to be much less cumbersome. I'll be trying it as fall bird season gets going (the Sandhills are coming!)

Thanks Steve. I've also found the Lens Coat cover to be helpful as well, less slip and particularly holding a long lens against a tree, on top of a fence post and even on top of barbed wire.

Hello Steve one a slight hiccup for me here in sunny Scotland, we drive on the other side of the road so shooting out the drivers side of the car for a normal old right handed person is a bit of an issue. The video is as always brilliant I just have to try and work out the problem and the only solution is to scoot over to the passenger seat and I do use a the same thing it's even smaller in diameter but works really well.

I hear ya - my wife always offers to drive so I can shoot out the passenger window, but it's the left and my brain doesn't seem to work that way...

Hi Steve, I took a small dry-bag I had and filled it with buckwheat hulls. I can use this on the door, window, and even have used it on the hood /tonneau cover on the truck bed. It is light weight and I just toss it behind the seat when not in use. Also works great for ground shooting support.
